Lately I have been thinking about the body and the way God has made it to work. I have been hospitalized twice and for some serious illness. This last one was an infection in my blood. But that is not what I dwell on, but the way God worked to heal me. The Bible states, “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it.” (Psalm 139:14). This body made by God, automatically went to fighting the infection. God knew I needed His help and He stepped to it. It is the same way with our spiritual life. Sometimes, we try to hide our feelings from Him. But He knows us, and knows when we are struggling. Just as He goes to work on our physical behalf, He does the same. Let Him do His work in your life. Tell Him you are hurting, and let Him put His healing “antibiotic” of Love into that hurt. He loves you fully!!
It all started at the beginning of December. I had been feeling fine with all of a sudden I started running a fever. I had the covid test and it came back negative, but I was quarantined because I had been exposed to it. So that started two weeks of being very tired. Around the middle of the two weeks, our back gate blew open and the dog got out. I got her back in and went out barefoot to shut the gate. When I did, I stepped on something and got it in my big toe. I could not see what it was, but I could not go to the doctor due to running a fever because of the flu. It continued to look worse and became much more painful. Two weeks later, I finally got to go to the wound care doctor. But by the time I did, the infection had gotten into the bone. The doctor said I needed to be admitted into the hospital. So on December 21, 2020, I walked into the emergency room by myself with my life in the balance because the infection could have gotten into my bloodstream. So, at 8 p.m. they gave me a room in the ER. I stayed in there until 2:30 a.m., at which time I got my room. Later on in the day, they took me for a MRI. The doctor called me and told me that I would have to have surgery and I might lose my toe. It hit me really hard and I mourned my toe at that point. I called my friends, then laid down that night and went to sleep. When they woke me up the next morning, I looked at the nurse and told her, “Jesus is here. “. This was such a sweet reassurance to me. In the past, the anxious thought of no people that I knew would have overtaken me. But knowing Jesus was with me gave me the strength to face what was going on. In the end, the toe was amputated, the infection was stopped, and my life was saved. And with every breath I have, I will share of the love of Jesus and how He is there for you too. Blessings!!
“Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 KJV). Jesus knew that there would be times in our lives when we would get worn down and not want to go on with our interests. But, He also made a way for us to release that tired feeling to Him. There are three ways that we can feel tired. The first one is physically. During this day and time, we catch ourselves running from here to there and never taking the time to rest for ourselves. If we do this long enough, we run ourselves down. This can open the door up to other illnesses. We need to make sure we get a consistent bed time going and do things that are relaxing for us. You can take a walk, listen to music or anything that relaxes you. The second type of weariness is emotional. When you have been through many things at a time, it will take a toll on your emotions. Make sure that you stay in touch with your feelings and deal with them. I recently had to do that when I had a blister come up on the foot where my toe was amputated and had to go back into the boot. I was so ready to get the boot off and move on to walking and was so frustrated, but I pushed that emotion down and didn’t want to deal with it because I was “strong in Jesus.”. This leads me to my third point. When we become weary and don’t deal with our emotions, we become weary in our spiritual life. I had quit really being in the Word, or listening to what the Holy Spirit would have me say on here. But when I let go of those negative emotions, I received His rest. He gave me a fresh word and anointing to speak it. So if you are struggling with any of these areas, bring it to Jesus and lay it down. Then He will cause you to lie down in sweet rest.
On Wednesday of this week, I had a very special day with Jesus. I woke up early with my mind on Him. See, the day before had been rough. I have been stuck in the house for a month after having my toe amputated and the next day was going to be beautiful. I spent some of that morning in a mood because I couldn’t go outside in the beautiful weather. So when I was able to be calm on Wednesday, Father God and I chose to spend the whole day together. I want to encourage you whenever you are having a rough day, and you want to throw in the towel, pull out your Bible, turn up the worship music and have fun with your Father. It will be the best day. Stay Fearless!!
Here I was at the scariest crossroads of my life. I was at work and had just gotten the call that our house had caught on fire. My mother was home and had been burned and they were flying her to Austell Georgia to the burn unit. We had lost all that was inside the house. I sat there shaking as I just didn’t know what to think. A very sweet friend from church and work was helping me get things together to go to my cousins and to encourage me spiritually. I then used my first dose of courage when I decided to drive to Georgia on my own. I had a nervous breakdown in 2013 and had not driven anywhere by myself since. You may ask where I got that courage? I found it the same place that Joshua from the Bible found it and that is in the Lord. Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified;do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (NIV). It is so easy to give into the fear of the moment. But when we feel that rising up, we have to fight it with the Word of God. So I encourage you to reach way down and find that spot of courage. Hold fast to your faith in the One Who holds tightly to you!! You are a Fearless Fighter!!!
